I’m so excited!! Hubs and I leave this week for our European ski vacation – to Austria! It’s been a huge bucket-list item for us for years, but between both of us moving jobs, buying our house, and getting married it just wasn’t in the cards. Until now. We’ve pulled the trigger and are off to St. Anton on Friday! We’ve had a lot on the go this past month so I didn’t even begin to think about packing until this week. Eeks! The challenge is going to be getting all my ski gear into a bag and packing only the essentials in what little space is left. And I mean little. That said, we are going to Europe and I don’t want to sacrifice style!
The trick to packing for a long trip (or in this case only a week but with very limited space) is picking a theme. I went with black and grey with some additional neutrals. A lot of pieces are going to have to do double-duty so they need to all work together.
Check out my list of ski trip essentials below!
This H&M scarf is one of my favourite things to travel with since it doubles as a cozy blanket on the plane. And of course it wouldn’t be a proper Austrian ski trip without some fluffy furry pieces.
Leggings are totally my jam. I got this super cool 80’s-throwback pair at Garage for the plane and to wear with a sweater around the chalet. Those, plus my fave leather leggings from Aritzia and a pair of distressed jeans and I’m good to go. All three can be dressed up or down – flexibility is key!
Keeping all my sweaters neutral in colour but in varying styles means I won’t get bored with only a few options!
Some cool but cozy outerwear pieces, like this furry vest and combat boots, top off all outfit possibilities well. I can layer the vest over other pieces I’ve worn already to make a new look (same applies with my scarf)!
Since I packed two pairs of leggings I need to make sure I have some longer tops in my bag. This garage t-shirt (technically a dress but really it’s perfect tunic length) is a comfy staple. Also, each season Joe Fresh does a new version of their ‘popover’ top in a new pattern – get one, you won’t regret it! You can dress it up or down easily and it’s so comfortable. A sleeveless knit top can be layered or worn alone giving me some more options.
