I’m OBSESSED with this dress. Even though I rarely wear navy, it was love at first sight when I saw it on the Zara website. I’ve worn it to a couple of events in the recently, including Mother’s Day brunch this past weekend. It’s a little ’80s, a little ’90s, really flattering, and super comfortable. The trick with really structural pieces like this is good tailoring; the details and lines get totally lost when the fit is wrong. So I bought a size up from normal and went over to the tailor to have it properly fitted. It’s such a cool and classy piece, I didn’t want it to be gaping in the chest or having the buttons pulling.
Anyway, this is one of those pieces that can be worn a few ways, so I know I’ll get some mileage out of it. I plan to style it in the fall with leather leggings, or with tights and boots, or skip the tights altogether and pair it with thigh-high boots – yes! It actually looks amazing as an open blazer as well… can you tell I love it?
