If you know me, you know I love a good kimono. Always have! They are so fun and versatile to wear, and a long kimono is even better; there are so many ways to wear them. This one from Zara really caught my eye with it’s beautiful colours and traditional details.
I’ve been wearing it a ton in the last few weeks, so thought I would share my top three ways to style a kimono.
If you read my post on ‘Summer Must-Haves‘, you saw I included another beautiful floral option (also from Zara) as a summer essential! Check it out!
1. As a layer with pants
Because the kimono is long and floaty, I find it looks best with skinny jeans/pants or leggings. It keeps the look a lot more streamlined. I styled it here as a casual look with distressed denim and suede sandals, but it looks amazing over dressier pieces as well.
2. As a jacket over a short dress or skirt
Love love love wearing this kimono as a unique and fun jacket. Here I wore it over a simple black dress and mules.
3. As a dress!
For something different and unexpected, try belting it and wearing it as a dress! It feels polished and tailored, but a little undone at the same time. Not to mention it lets the fabric take centre stage. This kimono has a button that aids in keeping it closed, but I wore a small slip underneath to avoid a wardrobe malfunction.
